PHP is at an inflection point. We are at a once in a lifetime place where several factors are coming together to help boost the profile of PHP up and above the "scripting language" label and into a serious tool for enterprise development.
Many developers inside the PHP community have looked at PHP as serious development tool for years. Major companies like Digg, Expedia, Yahoo and facebook are trotted out during every discussion of PHP to prove what a useful tool PHP is. However, companies like Ladbrokes, Channel Five, Fiat, Panasonic, and the BBC, all use PHP as not only their backend glue language but for serious, enterprise level, transactional workflow systems. In a growing number of large development shops, PHP has gone from "why" to "why not". Ga door met lezen van "PHP is NOW" Thursday, 18 December 2008Adobe MAX conference report Back in November Adobe invited a representative of Ibuildings over (thanks Mike!) to attend Adobe MAX North America, amongst a small group of 13 other PHP and AJAX influencers. The main reason to invite us, was to start a discussion on the direction they go in respect to their Flex and AIR development and to receive feedback on some of the plans they have. Because of my fitting name, previous experience and current interest in Adobe products like Flex, AIR and Flash Catalyst (Previously known as Thermo), I was the chosen one to represent Ibuildings!
